This June, NUJ members will be voting by postal ballot to elect a new Deputy General Secretary. The NEC has confirmed the following candidates:
The Electoral Reform Services has been appointed the official scrutineer for the ballot and the count will be conducted by the single transferable voting system. Sarah Veale, the TUC Senior Employment Rights Officer will act as the Electoral Presiding Officer in the event of any complaint during the ballot.
The ballot timetable is as follows:
Ballot papers sent out on 27 May 2008
Closing date for receipt of ballot papers: Noon on 4 July.
Members entitled to vote in this election will be in accordance with Rules 2 and 10 – full members who are not more than three calendar months or more in arrears of subscriptions on 15 May 2008.
